Youth Programs at UGA Griffin

Kids Enrichment University Logo

Kids Enrichment University (KEU) is a summer day camp with the right combination of educational and recreational activities to produce a fun and memorable summer learning experience for children ages 8-14. The camp will run for five weeks. Each week presents a special array of educational offerings and includes hands-on educational activities, guest speakers, and field trips in disciplines such as art, computers, health, writing, science, math, and history. Campers are grouped according to grade level, with rising third through rising fifth graders grouped together and rising sixth through rising eighth graders combined for educational classes and activities. Families will be able to register their child(ren) for a full day (8:15 AM – 3:00 PM) or a half-day (8:15 AM – 1:00 PM).

Recreational activities will include swimming, bowling, skating, volleyball, and, of course movie time.

KEU is a real community program offered in partnership with Caterpillar, the Griffin-Spalding County School System, the Spalding County Recreation and Parks, the City of Griffin Housing Authority, and several other local sponsors.

Themed Weeks and Course Offerings

There is an exciting educational theme for each of the five weeks of camp at Kids Enrichment University. Kids will attend Mini-Medical School and have hands-on math experiences in Week 1 and 2. Week 3 and 4 offers art, animation, robotics, computer experiences, and engineering applications. Week 5 exposes children to science on the UGA Griffin Campus.

As an example, when your young student-doctor goes to med school for a week or two this summer, they have fun solving common medical cases of the human body and, in the process, learn about many human body systems. With the help of our instructors, who too are in Medical School, your young student-doctor, nurse, physician assistant, or medical technician will discover some common health issues, get a good understanding of how the body works, diagnose what may have gone wrong, and figure out some common treatments.
